Michael, i have learned something in life. when you start something, you stick with it. how do you know that in two years you will hate med school and want to be a lawyer?

Hey, i want to talk to you about a work out program, Michael. what’s your email so we don’t have to involve these haters.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 9:29 am

sloth, what’s your bad news?

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 9:29 am

i’ll give you a work out program, just look in mens health. The secret is just doing one, following through. You could follow daisy fuentes and get in shaped, all you have to do it pick one and do it. It baffels me that people don’t get that one, common sense folks, so lrn2commonsense!

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 10:00 am

jon, of all people you would think that i know about following through with workouts. i just want to try something different. besides michael, i’m probably the only one that works out on a semi consistent basis anyway.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 10:15 am

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 10:33 am

Just hang a picture of michael up in your locker! LOL

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 10:38 am

i already tried that. all it did was make a bunvh of gay guys crowd around my locker.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 10:42 am

But Michael isn’t into that stuff anymore, did you not see the posts yesterday, he is no longer at UCONN

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 10:50 am

hey, if no one has bought cocoa puffs yet, i had another idea. we should read starship troopers. a classic.

but, i don’t want to be flip floppy. i can hold starship troopers for the next go around.

any body got plans for the weekend? i might go golfing. its been a while. its seems that all anyone in my office talks about. if i want to impress the suits i better drop my handicap.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 12:21 pm

yeah you do scam, golf is big-time in the corporate world. I am actually playing in a company golf tourney tomorrow morning in Jersey. It should be a pretty swell time. There might be some prizes involved. This past week i have been thinking about getting into golf more, i need some new clubs, clubs make a huge difference, i have the old driver and the new ones you can just crush a ball and it tends to be straigther.

My sister, her husband and the three week old baby are coming in this afternoon. They will be here till monday. We’ll probably just tool around, maybe go to the city and eat lots of cheese-steaks. I just ate this hoagie, and i think i’m going to explode, you would love the hoagies here cam and seth (the food coniseours) There is this place just down the street from work which has claim to the inventor of the hoagie, man they are tasty!

I plan on getting lots of halo3 in as well, this is the last weekend for the beta so i need to take advantage before it hits the shelves on Sept 25. My neighbor and i are planning on going to the midnight grab. Should be fun.

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 12:28 pm

i discovered this killer cheese steak place in downtown tulsa. its seriously a shack and the guy always has bob marley playing. i’ve never been too philly, but these are the best sandwiches i’ve ever had. even better than in d.c.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 12:36 pm

Scam, I certainly understand choosing something and sticking to it. That’s why I AM sticking to what I chose. It may not seem that way, but I am in a good position to make the more definite switch before I get too deep over here. I haven’t changed what I believe or what I love, but I am changing the exact path before it gets too late. If I make it to med school, then the “stick to it” mentality will be strong to the end, regardless. If I don’t get into med school, then I will resume my current work and stick to that til I’m done. This whole thing is in pursuit of my original goals. I’ve always had the mindset that I want exercise physiology as my basis, but I can fine-tune everything since it opens so many doors for me (such as going to med school since I technically did “premed”).

About your workouts, tuffy boggles my mind with his “common sense” crap. Tuffy, why don’t you enlighten us on WHY just any program will produce the results scam wants. Explain the very SIMPLE physiology of the body that produces the exact same thing no matter what you do. Oh, and be sure and take your shirt off for us to prove it even further. So now we’ll have proof from two sources: 1) Tuffy’s great knowledge of exercise physiology, and 2) tuffy’s great results. These two points should be enough to prove MY knowledge of physiology of a more complex nature totally wrong after all these years AND should show how much time I’ve wasted on my own body. Okay tuffy, post away and certainly post those pics on your page so we can be dazzled.

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 1:17 pm

why ou medical school? did you think about anywhere else?

was all this brought about by your unexplainable and unsatiable fixation of Grey’s Anatomy?

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 1:34 pm

You can be dazzled, all you have to do it workout, scam open up mens health find their workout and do it, then you get results, the key doms if you can back away from the roids real quick, is following through with the workout. People don’t need personal trainers to tell them what to do, anyone can find that info, people have personal trainers for motivation. So start working out with a medicine ball everyday and you’ll see results. I don’t know how much more simple i need to make this, you just have to follow through.

And Doms, i seriously doubt that scam doesn’t want to have a neck. And yes i do have great knowledge. It is easily available anywhere. And yes, i do have great results for what i do, if i wanted better results, i would do more. Hello??

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 1:37 pm

true, working out is much easier when someone is there counting your reps.

as well, i don’t want to get big. i want to be lean and mean. DOMS, i remember telling you this a while ago and you were like “if you are going to work out you might as well get big. that’s the whole point”

i’m not into the “big” thing. i’m going for more of a “bruce lee” style of ripped.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 1:47 pm

I am thinking OU because I am technically a resident of OK. I am much, much, much less likely to get into med school in another state. I am, however, applying to 5 or more places. And I’ve never watched Grey’s Anatomy, but I do frequently watch Discovery Health!

Tuffy, you don’t understand a single thing of the body and you don’t have the results; therefore you don’t have a single leg to stand on when arguing with someone that has both. Why do you insist on showing your ignorance?

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 1:50 pm

The same reason you insist on showing your pride. Working out is different for everyone, like scam for example, he doesn’t want to be a meat head, so he can look up the “bruce lee” workout and get those results, its that simple. Its not rocket science? Anyone with a fifth grade education can be an expert in working out, you just have to be able to read, and i was in the accelerated reading so i think i have plenty of leg to stand on. And yes, i have the results, if i want more i’ll get more, if i want less, i’ll do less.

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 1:52 pm

i guess it comes down to: who writes the stuff that tuffy reads and why does it work. guys in DOMS profession are the ones writing the stuff because they know what works and what doesn’t. guys like tuffy trust the guys like DOMS to do the research and do the studying behind it so they can write them a work out that will give results. DOMS writes, tuffy reads. everyone can be happy.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 1:55 pm

Scam, I don’t remember saying that, but if I did it was just to help you understand that you don’t have to work out longer and more frequently to get big; so if you want it, do it. In other words, maybe you want to get big and ripped, but you feel you don’t have time, so you instead just want to get lean and ripped which you see as easier to do. I’m saying it isn’t dependent on the time you spend, but instead on the type of program you choose. You can strive for anything you want (big and ripped, small and ripped, etc.), but your program will have to match your goals if you have any chance of reaching your genetic potential.

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 1:56 pm

Exactly (in response to scam), and there are plenty of pieddly little researchers out there, like i said, not rocket science, you work out you get stronger, i think the cavemen knew this one

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 1:57 pm

So what book are we going with, cocoa puffs still, you were waffleing a bit scam

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 1:59 pm

You’re both wrong. Magazines write to sell. Selling is first priority, helping you is not. It’s also funny that tuffy thinks anyone can look like Bruce Lee simply by doing what he did. Yep, we’ll all shrink down to his frame and our muscles will reattach to look like his. Heck if we say the same things as bruce, then maybe our face will look like his too! Good thing to know genetics had nothing to do with it.

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 2:00 pm

I was just dumbing it down, do we have to start being PC on here.

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 2:03 pm

You can say that again, you were definitely dumbing it down. That’s the problem.

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 2:05 pm

only for your sake, because it is a dumb subject that you try to complicate to much! LOL.

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 2:07 pm

Here’s something to chew on: Even if the magazine did give you a great program, it will only work for a little while, with little to no visual changes. Then what? Then you have to change the program again. Why? Because they are NOT all the same. And changing the program doesn’t mean, “Duuuhhhh, guess I’ll do bench press after my curls today, duuuuhhhh.”

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 2:08 pm

Scam, you should go to a gym like mine. They have all body types there and all types of results. Seeing these guys in person could really help you see what you want for yourself. Maybe the huge guys on steroids will look best to you in person. Maybe not. Either way, it’s different in person. Then, when you find a a body you like, then find that same body on a different face, with different skin, etc. Will it still look appealing to you? Who knows. Regardless, after spending a year working out hard for your initial goals, they’ll probably change. That’s just they way things go when you are seeing changes and you gain some experience — you realize what you really want. Maybe it’s the same, maybe not.

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 2:13 pm

lol, i would love to see scam as a meat head? Meat heads look hilarious in general anyways!

And Doms its not all about the way you look! Hello. Plus you are already married, and chicks don’t dig the meat heads.

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 2:17 pm

bruce lee. i want bruce lee. he’s asian. i’m asian. he’s a handsome devil. i’m a handsome devil. the similarities continue but i think you can see what i want.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 2:20 pm

To look as close to bruce as your genetics will allow, then your program should generally focus on light weight, high reps (15+ reps burning out). You must include the right exercises to hit all the muscles. You should rest between sets 1 minute or less. And you’d better diet and probably add some aerobics to get lean. The weights focus on the muscle, not necessarily the fat.

Now you need a healthy component. This would be heavy, heavy lifting on alternate days. This will NOT make you bigger (well, maybe a very small increase, but too little to make much difference if any at all), but it will make you stronger and healthier in many ways. This means such heavy weight that you can’t lift more than 5 reps. Then you rest 3-5 minutes between these sets.

That’s a very general scheme I would fine-tune for you.

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 2:28 pm

exactly, Doms, did you just read that out of Men’s Health! LOL, cause it sure does sound familiar.

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 2:33 pm

Oh, did my very GENERAL scheme sound familiar? Well, I’m sorry to say that no one could solely use the info above to get the results they desire. Sadly there are too many additional factors. Of course, had I ONLY said to do the high reps, you would have said the same thing. The very important heavy weights would have been neglected. You’re in the wrong game here tuffy.

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 2:43 pm

I’ll try it and see if i can get some results in the first week or so.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 2:43 pm

I hope you’re joking scam.

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 2:43 pm

that kind of advice is a dime a dozen, here, cam, let me help you out, i’ll get that bruce lee program going for you, easy breasy, but like anything there are no guarantees unless you follow through.

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 2:47 pm

of course i’m kidding. i better see results after the first day or i’m done.

no, i know it takes at least 6 weeks to see the slightest changes.

lay it on me, tuffy. i’ll do whichever work out i deem the easiest but most effective.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 2:49 pm

Oh yeah, you should do what bruce did — isometric contracions. Stand there and squeeze the wall all day. Too bad science has shown through and through down to the molecular level that isometric contractions are the least effective.

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 2:49 pm

all right, nice, lets all pitch our work-out ideas for scam. Of course we are at a disadvantage with the competition, cause spence is a salesman!

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 3:00 pm

CAMERON!!!!!! What the F@!*@!! is wrong with you. Where have you been the last 3 years. You really don’t know not to bring up this nutrition and working out crap. Mother of Pearl!!!!!

This is like a broken record. Michael with the same pridefull BS, Jon telling him it is BS and to just use common sense, And Cameron eating it up.

Not that it matters, but it is just common sense. It is less about what you are doing, and more about if you are doing. Michael you are where you are physically because you have dedicated every second of your life to it. Which is why the rest of your life is in dissaray. And each of us are where we are physically because of how much effort we put into it. Michael we have had this conversation 100 times. you are never going to convince anybody with your current techniques. People don’t want to and just won’t focus every second of their life on drinking protien, and bench pressing. That is rediculous. Yet that is what you preach.

This is crazy, I can’t believe we are back to this topic.

Comment by Sweet Moses — June 8, 2007 @ 3:05 pm

FYI
My office windows look out on to the provo river jogging trail, and man a hottie just went cruisin by.

Yesterday all I saw was a 4 year old biff it on a scooter. She sat there crying for 5 minutes while I sat up here giggling.

Comment by Sweet Moses — June 8, 2007 @ 3:09 pm

here’s a great topic: DOMS, do you remember the millions that you were going to make selling long distance phone service? man, what did you do with all of that money? the guy at the meeting i went to almost had me convinced.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 3:10 pm

spencer giggling is a great image.

dude, did your office move again?

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 3:11 pm

Low blow, scam. I think I’m teamed up against enough that we don’t need comments like that. I’ll be quick to agree with anything you have to say on that matter.

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 3:12 pm

sorry, dude. that was a great time though. i got some free cookies out of the deal.

i’m officially back on your defense.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 3:15 pm

all right, defend this scam. Jenny said to me the other day, what does cameron think of working for a large corporate company since he was so against it? What say ye scam?

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 3:18 pm

talk about a low blow.

well here it is: if you are going to fight a war, you might as well be on the front line. if you are unhappy about a situation, do you stand on the outside complaining or do you get in the fight and try to fix things the best you can. mostly, it came down to whether what it meant to me to work for a large oil company or fight against the large oil company. i decided i could do more good on the inside, where the action is, than on the outside trying to effect change.

basically, if a tough decision has to be made, i would rather it be me (a guy who cares about real things and people and has ethics/morals) than shmoe-joe (a guy who only wants to make more money and impress his boss). that and it beats working 70 hours a week at a firm and pays just as well (almost).

good enough?

believe me, a lot of soul searching and praying went into the whole thing. besides, its just for the summer.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 3:25 pm

Scam, I know you were joking.

I’m putting the blogging down for a few months, maybe indefinitely. Also the phone and 360, so don’t call us, we’ll call you.

Comment by DOMS 287 — June 8, 2007 @ 3:27 pm

thats funny michael.

Thats also funny cameron. You need to be more of a realist though. To think you will have any effect on a company that large is silly. And you will soon become golf buddies with the suits, and just be in it for the money. I am not judging you for this. It is just the reality. You won’t survive in the company otherwise.

Comment by Sweet Moses — June 8, 2007 @ 3:33 pm

“that and it beats working 70 hours a week at a firm and pays just as well (almost).”

That sums it up right there scam! LOL

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 3:38 pm

i’m just pulling your chain scam, and you shouldn’t think there is anything wrong with corporate america, they pay for everything

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 3:48 pm

Where did everyone run off to, come back doms! You know we are just joshing with you, you like a good fight, i know it.

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 4:05 pm

I guess i’ll just chat with myself

so; how are you tuffy?

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 4:08 pm

pretty good, i’m pretty swamped at work, you know the sr analyst quit and the budget is due in two weeks and i picked up all his crap

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 4:09 pm

“really, well that’s too bad, i’m sure they are going to hire someone else.”

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 4:09 pm

dude, its not that corporate america is bad. i am the biggest capitalist you will ever find. its the corruption that gets me. but so far, COP is above most of my expetations.

so does this mean you’re the new sr. analyst?

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 4:20 pm

DOMS, you know we love you. come back home, baby.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 4:21 pm

so, tuffy, was it kevin clausz that quit?

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 4:32 pm

sure it means i’m the new “sr analyst”, notice the quotes there. I actually went to my boss the other day and said hey, since i’m doing all the work, can i apply for the sr analyst position. He basically laughed and said, we both know that is never going to happen!. He thinks i could handle the work, but you never make a jump like that in such a structured company like this. So, basically more work, same pay!

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 4:33 pm

ah, i see that you are becoming proficient with the org charts! Yes it was kevin.

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 4:34 pm

dude, how many years do you have to put in before a move like that is do-able?

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 4:35 pm

i’d say, 5 to 10

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 4:36 pm

yikes. some HR guys were explaining the pay scale and stuff to me the other day. sort of structured like the military/government. you can move up pay within your little zone but you need a promotion to jump levels.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 4:40 pm

well, just checked in with sethels, i guess he is on the greyhound to hang out with spence tonight. So, i hope to be playing some halo 3 with spence and seth tonight.

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 4:40 pm

i know! It is almost comical, i’m looking for that jump right about now.

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 4:40 pm

dude, i need a 360 so bad. DOMS, if you don’t want to play yours anymore, i’ll give you $50 for it.

Comment by The Scam — June 8, 2007 @ 4:45 pm

his 360 broke, did you get it fixed?

Well i’m outtie!

Comment by jtuffy — June 8, 2007 @ 4:48 pm

Halo 3 was sweet! I’m gonna see what I can do about getting a 360… might take me a while, I’ve got a few other things before it in the priority list. But… good things are worth waiting for. When does halo 3 release? Maybe by then.
