April 19th 2007

Thursday april 19th 2007. Lets celebrate the departure of Sanjaya!!! It will be nice to never have to watch his gay stupidity again.

Ok everybody. first off I want you all to know you guys have great problem finding skills. As for your problem solving skills, the jury is still out. You have all found lots of problems with the system here on the website. So as of now, I will impliment a solution. this will be a permanent solution unless you are notified other wise. They system is set to only allow 3 post’s on the main page. So as new post’s are submitted the rotate to the next page(next page button left side under three post’s on main page). these post’s will continute to compile on additional pages. they are also archived(archive button on right side of page) it appears by month. So the plan will be this. I will submit a new post’s each night around 10 to 11 pm MST. This new post each day will be labled for the next day. So a post put in tonight(wednesday) will be for thursday. this post will be used for all of the days chats. Even if you still want to comment on a previous days comments just do it in the current days blog. If you east coasters get up in the morning and there is not a new post for that day, then you should login and and submit a post for the day. Please make sure to properly label it with the day of the week. I believe this should resolve any confusion as to where you should post comments. I think we have all figured out that sometimes it takes a few minutes to post a comment. but it has yet to not post one. So be patient. I assume everybody is okay with scrolling through a days worth of comments each day. Everyone can or does also have their own page. This is a good format for posting pics of the family and news as to what is happening in your life. It is solely your responsibility to modify and keep your page current. If anyone needs any assistance in doing this I am more than happy to do so. I am available from 2 am till 2:04 am MST monday’s and saturday”s. peoples individual pages are good places to make comments speciffically to that person also. If you prefer to do this in the general blog that is fine also. If you want you can have a setting to recieve an email everytime someone makes a comment on your individual page. As we move forward I am sure we will find other things we can do with this site. Or better ways to run the blog. If all of you monkeys can fit into your very important busy lives, we should have a conference call together or group online chat atleast to answer any questions, and make sure everybody is on the same page with this. So to recap. This will be the post for Thursday, and Myself or an east coaster will submit a new post each day for the days blogging to be done on. If you have not read all the comments from the previous day, it would behoove you to do so, so as to no make yourself look a fool. And you may also feel free to post any comments on people’s individual pages. I will not always do this but michael initiated a new topic late tonight, so I will copy that comment over on to this post. So, happy blogging on your thursday.

Gee wiz, I guess this is where the new posts are going. Took me long enough to find it (hint, hint).

I have a brand new topic!!!!! Have you guys heard about the new energy drink, Cocaine? It’s causing a lot of controversy! Store owners are urged to not sell the product (and they’re not, those “Wal-Marts”!). They’re saying it causes kids to glamorize the illegal drug cocaine and will lead to more abuse of it. I say what a bunch of crap! No really, I should have put that in quotes because I really do say it. The actual company that makes the drink said they named it this way because they knew it would be controversial and it would give them free advertising. Genius! The news tried to say how bad it was because it contains, and imagine me dramatizing this, “3 times as much caffeine as the popular energy drink, Red Bull!” Ridiculous because Red Bull only has 80 mg caffeine per serving. One cup of coffee has more than that (anywhere between 100-200 mg per cup). A Starbucks large coffee has about as much, and I think actually more, than the new cocaine drink (can’t be sure of that because they didn’t give the actual amount in the Cocaine drink). So what’s the word? Do you guys see it like I do? Like they are making a big deal out of nothing? Or do you think their arguments hold water? Let us all know!

Comment by Michael Coday — April 19, 2007 @ 12:58 am

I think the arguement hold some water! There is a lot to be said about a name. A name is a personal identifier, it invokes much more thought than just a placeholder. It is pretty shallow to admit using a name just to cause a stir to get publicity. Why not just name your kid, orgy-pop so that they will be famous.

Comment by jtuffy — April 19, 2007 @ 8:00 am

And my comments used to appear last cause i messed with the time, it is correct now, well at least for me. All times are eastern! Just like tv shows.

Comment by jtuffy — April 19, 2007 @ 8:11 am

Yes, but what about Barg’s root beer? It glamorized kids dinking beer because it looked like a beer can. No one argued about that. Why should this be so different? Cocaine is just as illegal to kids as beer is. How do you explain that? Plus, why don’t they fight all the regular tv that REALLY glamorizes drug and alcohol abuse (college kids partying for instance)? It’s crazy to just pick on the new things that really just fall into the same category as other things they do promote. Not to mention the fact that kids could get a hold of alcohol a million times easier than cocaine in the first place! I see no real risk here. The kids know it isn’t really cocaine, or at least they will next week when all the hype dies down.

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 9:37 am

I don’t know that I even care about “Cocaine”. Is it really gonna cause more people to use? Here’s an idea. Have the DEA release a bunch of tainted cocaine so all the idiots who start using because of an energy drink will poison themselves. That oughta solve the problem. Or, just have faith that these gullible will remove themselves from the gene pool. If they believe this idea, I’ll bet they are buying into the worlds view about childbearing and rearing. Who knows.

Comment by Seth — April 19, 2007 @ 9:44 am

About cracking down on entertainment that glorifies illegal substance abuse. In movies, underage children using illegal substances ups the rating. I know of a few movies that are rated R only because of minor’s smoking weed, cigarettes and drinking beer. As for TV, the only sensorship that is required by the FCC has to do with indecensy. The only things that must be censored arre sexual. Interesting huh? Alot of networks take it a little further just to keep people from freaking out, but they really don’t have to. And cable doesn’t have to sencor anything. They do, but technicaly aren’t required to. So, why not get rid of illegal substance abuse on TV? because there is not enough public backlash.

Comment by Seth — April 19, 2007 @ 9:50 am

Now, for an important topic. Why did NBC release the video of the killer? It’s gonna be pretty hard to bring him to justice, the least that could be done would be to deny him a legacy! Especialy since he was inspired by the Columbine killers, why was he given the chance to influence further those who feel disconected from society? Why make him a martyr, a hero?

I am disgusted by NBC’s neglegent acts. Their motives are clearly monitary, not moral. Where is the concern for the public that NBC proffesses to serve. The news is a buisness and doesn’t care one bit if they are informing us or not.

Well, I turned of NBC and turned on NPR. I’ve actualy been getting some news instead of an overdose of drama. I get enough drama on tv… is it too much to ask for some information?

Comment by Seth — April 19, 2007 @ 9:59 am

Well you should have already been discusted long ago by NBC’s left winged, liberal, shananagans. I agree it is rediculous how all the news stations even foxnews dramatize this. Heraldo Rivera is the worst. I can’t stand to listen to him. He was a smuck with the hurricane katrina stuff. They are obviously in the game to make money. And so you can’t blame it all on them. the people watching have to take some of the blame. they wouldn’t do it if it didn’t attract alot of viewers. I think people want to here about it. they want to believe that the guy was crazy, and had been crazy. they want to know this because it is too hard to comprehend otherwise. Also knowing he was crazy previously allows people to start pointing fingers everywhere. Its been only a couple of days, and the blame game has allready started. Heck I heard them placing blame the first day. I had a thought yesterday about it. the guy had been put in loony bens a couple of times. People knew he was disturbed. They knew he was a loner, who had no friends. And they always just think the solution to this is to stick them in a loony ben where they inevitably they will become more lonely and angry. If you treat somebody like they are crazy they will become more and more crazy. When the obvious solution for an individual like this is for some people to befriend him. Obviously that is easier said than done. But think about it. Ultimately I guaruntee he was angry because non of the other students would befreind him. If a few people would have went out of their way to be nice to him, even invite him to hang out with them, this wouldn’t have happend. thats all people want is to feel liked. We all know how insensitive kids can be. But there is no excuse for adults in college to be this way. Or for someone to not be responsble enough to take some positive action. You know he was kicked out of his english class for disturbing writing. Maybe some of the class mates and the teacher(who looks as ignorant as can be) could have socialize with him instead of ostersizing him. Anyways, I am not saying I would have done this myself. It is a hard thing to do. But I am saying it would have been the solution that could have prevented this horrible event.

Wayne Out !!!!

Comment by John Wayne — April 19, 2007 @ 10:31 am

Alright, i’m getting a late start…

The whole “cocaine” thing seems pretty stupid. the fact that you want to associate your drink with an illegal substance is pretty stupid to begin with, and the fact that they openly do it for the free advertising is even worse. so basically the media is playing right into their hands. those are some marketing geniuses pulling the strings on america. who cares how much caffeine is in a product. i’m surprised that you even drink caffeine, michael. as bad as it is for your system, i would think that you would stay away from the stuff.

whoever brought up the barq’s root beer, that’s like saying anything that comes in a bottle (IBC, JOnes, etc.) is meant to look like beer in a bottle. that’s not a very fair argument. it would almost be better to say that the fact that its called root “beer” is more akin to mimicking actual beer.

i hate the drama of the VT shootings. i talked about it the other day. they are hamming it up and glorifying the whole deal. they shouldn’t say another word about the killer and how tragic it is that we didn’t heed the warning signs. no one cares. i want to know why there was a lapse in security between the first killings and the second killings. the kid was crazy, the cops on the scene weren’t. i don’t know why they didn’t shut everything down then.

spence, marvelous job on the site. i’ll be calling you at 2:02 on saturday though with all of my questions.

Comment by The Scam — April 19, 2007 @ 10:40 am

like wayne said,

there are thousands of kids like this in the u.s.. all kids in high school are lonely and quiet and shy around girls, just like this kid. i wrote some pretty disturbing stuff when i was in high school about killing cheerleaders and what not. its hard to pick a lonely kid out of a crowd and say, “well, he looks like the kind that will massacre some people”. c’mon, that would be half of the kids in high school right now. this kid just didn’t handle things right.

like jwayne said, maybe things would have been different if someone would have told the kid that life isn’t always like high school. that you will make friends and that there are people out there like you. sure its hard to befriend the weird kid, but weren’t we all the weird kid at some point. even adults, instead of expressing concern over this kid, why not just take him out to lunch and talk about how awesome you think his writing is and that you want to help him make it even better. just show some interest.

of course, its easy to say from hindsight.

Comment by The Scam — April 19, 2007 @ 10:47 am

I’m in a hurry so I’m only going to say a couple of things right now. Cameron, I actually don’t use caffeine. I was just making a point (I bet you use more caffeine than I do). However, caffeine is one of the most thoroughly studied legal drugs and it shows to be very safe with benefits. Aside from that, Barg’s root beer name is akin to beer, obviously, and that’s why they marketed it like a beer can as well. Kids literally pretended to drink beer when using barg’s root beer can! Everything I said holds true about it including its similarity with this cocaine drink. I haven’t read everything, so if you did give me some credit, then I’m sorry.

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 10:54 am

Great thought Spence, but I gotta say… after the way you treated Tom you better watch out too. Nothing like an angry Canadian… your gonna go out to your car after work one day and there he’ll be, comin’ at’cha like a rabid beaver! Hope you can defend yourself… lol

But seriously, it’s just so simple. Kindness can be so powerful. I have worried about some of our regular comic book shop patrons since it shut down. Even though I didn’t especialy enjoy some (well, many) of them. I tried to be kind to them and associate with them. It gave them a place to go and feel, generaly, accepted. And even though it could be pretty annoying at times, it still felt good to contribute to a place where just about anyone could feel like they were part of something.

Well, I gotta’ get my sudoku on and then get to work… hope you guys have a good one. Oh, I’m still try’n to figure out how to embed youtube videos on the page. When that’s been figured out, I’ll see if I can help Spence with the other problems.

Comment by Seth — April 19, 2007 @ 11:01 am

I agree with ya’ll on the NBC thoughts, i can’t believe they aired the tapes of that crazy monkey! What good could possibly come of that………money; that is the only thing they care about, and you know why, because people flocked to like fat women to spandex. If “the office” wasn’t on tonight, i would be boycotting NBC.
I agree that these types of people need to have friends, associates, or anyone that aknowledges them. But more importantly, what is the family situation like? Was there love, compasion and teaching where this kid grew up? I have’t heard anything about his family on the news yet so we’ll wait and see when they tear that apart. That is why you have to be nice to everyone i guess, but not out of the fear of getting blown away by some deranged lonely crazy head, but because we should be nice to everyone (except your friends, since they are already on the hook! : )) I think there is a difference between being nice to someone like a drugy and befriending them. Who you hang out with is a great personifier of your own life and path.
I would love to see Cameron’s writings about killing cheerleaders, i think Cam just had a major crush on one of them and got rejected! Those TU cheerleaders need to watch out, they probably have your mug marked to avoid. LOL.

Comment by jtuffy — April 19, 2007 @ 11:11 am

Alright, I’m back. If you haven’t seen my page lately, check out the show!

Yes sirs, you guys are totally right! Absolutely incredibly D-less (Jon or Spence may have to translate) about the news playing to the cards of the killers out there that thrive on publicity. The “BTK” killer, the Zodiak, the Son of Sam, just to name a few off the top of my head. These losers name themselves the way they like and the news gives them that pleasure. However, I totally think they SHOULD give each killer a unique, identifiable name, such as “The Butt-Buddy of Sam”, or “The B Real Gay” killer, or the Barbiac. Yep, more fitting.

About befriending and being nice to crazy kids, much, much easier said than done. In fact, I bet it’s basically impossible. These people are not little softies crying at night for someone to just be their friend. Nope, they are angry at what has happened to them in their lives (which perpetuates because that’s all they can see is people against them), and it doesn’t take much to set them off even more. If you took one out to lunch and told him how great his writings are, he’d love to hear that…until you tell him he shouldn’t do it that way. Then you’d just be like everyone else. Take for instance terrorists. They lived among us for years rejecting nice people, then 9/11 came around and they didn’t hesitate. That’s just an example, not the law. The only thing we can do for these kids is take away the news and media that molds them, just like we are all saying. And say we do take everything negative away, then events like these would just be less if we’re lucky. I agree with Jon about the families. I’ve been wondering about his family too. I’m just blown away that they are able to show the videos of this pathetic loser little baby girl trying to act tough. They are building so much interest and intrigue and therefore building more of him, as you all agree. Amazingly pathetic! As Jon said, there is no reason in the world to show that video to the public other than to make them money and spawn new freaks!

Now to finish up here: Seth and Sudoku and everyone else in the world! Everyone’s gotta have their Sudoku! And I’m putting another vote in for Cam to post his writings about the cheerleaders!!! And lastly, the webmaster has done a fine job here today. I love the headline!

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 12:38 pm

I agree with Mickey that it would definitely be tough to befriend the crazy guy. the whole taking them out to lunch and what not is a very fine line. kids are mostly whack jobs when it comes to logical thinking anyway, so even if you try to do something nice, it can come off as just another adult trying to control them. its a tough situation.

i heard one thing on the family. the got the neighbor from a few years back that said they were nice, quiet and polite. but seriously, the family must be examined. that is the first line of defense in situations like this. it doesn’t matter how bad the world is, if you have a loving home to come to then you will probably turn out somewhat normal. at least not the murdering type.

but there are just those anomalies, like jeffrey dahmer that had great lives and great families and were just very disturbed mentally. it all probably goes back to porn. this kid was probably a porn addict.

the cheerleader story is long gone. probably on a 4 inch floppy disk somewhere. i can write a new one for you. this one will definitely be rated R.

Comment by The Scam — April 19, 2007 @ 2:00 pm

Hey all you Office watchers! For the daily survey question over here at UConn it says, “The Office: Pam or Karen?” Since I don’t watch the show, I don’t know whom to choose! Give me your input and I’ll input it in the survey and relay the current results to you guys! Let me know!

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 3:06 pm

Ok, I read at least a few of Scam’s stories back in the day. All I can say is that when you starve yourself the brain is the first thing to go. It’s a good thing he started playin’ lacrosse or he woulda’ gone postal a long time ago! Those stories were pretty twisted. Actualy though, they were some pretty funny black humor. But it is seriously good that no adults ever got their hands on ‘em.

As for Michael saying these guys can’t be befriended because they are cold heartless killers. I gota’ disagree. They didn’t start out that way. Rachel had a teacher developement meeting at her jr high yesterday where they talked about how important it is for these kids to have teachers and adults that befriend them. If it’s sincere, the kids don’t see it as controling. Even when corection and advice are given. And as far as befriending them goes, maybe some are beyond this… but they are stil people. I think kindness, if sincere can go a long way. Of course, as Cameron said, there are some people who have legitamate social and psychological problems. But these people need kindness too. I think that kindness is probabley the best policy all around.

So, Michael… you sudoku? Good times huh. Gotta put the mind to the grindstone, keep it sharp… ya know. And Spence, I hope your ready… the “BullDog” is comin’! He’s bigger, faster and stronger and ready to tear your place apart… should be good times, lol

Comment by Seth — April 19, 2007 @ 3:13 pm

Actually with the Sudoku, I was sarcastic.

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 3:17 pm

But really, everyone seems to be doing that Sudoku!

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 3:18 pm

Yeah! That is going to be a sweet time……the bulldog at the Henry Manor. I can see the broken 360 now! of course you can always just go buy the new 360 elite, in black.

As for the office poll, i’d go karen, but it would be a different story if Jan was in the mix, you know, older women with power! Gotta love em! LOL.

Well, this conversation isn’t too exciting since it seems like everyone agrees with everyone on the topic of being nice to everyone; everyone? There are some minor points of debate though.

I’ve never really understood the facination with Sudoku, it has been around forever and all of a sudden it has caught fire! What happened, did the crossword finally go the way of the dodo? I don’t think that they are that challenging, just a trial and error process, however, i’ve only done one in my life and it just didn’t float my boat.

So who is up for some Call of Duty 3 this weekend? That’s right, go grab your nearest 360 cause Spence, Seth and I will be on, Don’t give me that study business, there is always time for 4 hours of gameplay! Always, unless you have procrastinated the day of your salvation until the very end, in which case, there was 4 hours of gameplay, you just planned to fail cause you failed to plan. LOL

Comment by jtuffy — April 19, 2007 @ 3:24 pm

Alright, I see the vote for Karen. I’ll get back to ya with the results!

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 3:30 pm

I officially voted for Karen. With 1,871 votes (that’s about half the norm - shows the popularity of the show), 69% of the votes have gone to… Pam! How does that make you feel?

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 3:33 pm

Call of booty?! Who’s idea is that?! I’m not spending 8 bichas for that piece of moesha! Call it Gears, call it Halo (so we can play with ol Beed) and I’m in. Whatta ya say?

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 3:37 pm

Pam is alright, but I would have voted for karen also. and like jon I would choose Jan if she was an option. My fantasies usuall involve older women. in power or not.

Comment by smengulator — April 19, 2007 @ 3:37 pm

Does anyone find it funny that Seth thinks the estrogen approach is the answer to life’s problems?

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 3:39 pm

gears sucks michael. I would much prefer Holo to it. But I am sick of Halo. So it is Call of your moms booty. You liked it when we played. It is a much better game. I will try something else out if we know it is good to play online as a group. And who is Beed. If that is Ben, then I wouldn’t play anyways. He is an idiot. It is lame as balls to play with him. So call of duty it is. So man up and go rent it.

Comment by smengulator — April 19, 2007 @ 3:40 pm

Gracious! I was about to refer ol Benny-Boy to the new site! Maybe I should rethink that one…

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 3:42 pm

you could possible refer ol benny boy to the site, But I will simply ridicule him till he doesn’t come back Like Tom. But he would probably use plenty of foul language that wouldn’t be appropriate anyways.

Comment by smengulator — April 19, 2007 @ 3:44 pm

Bring the bulldog on. My little poodle could tear him to pieces. I am teaching her how to fight. teaching her to punch in the face. and if worse comes to worse I can stick him in the padded room in the basement I use for alyson sometimes. How are you feeling about a little manual labor this weekend seth? We got about 12 hours of it to do.

Comment by smengulator — April 19, 2007 @ 3:48 pm

You’ll now find three additions to my page. The third might be a little too much, but it was requested.

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 4:09 pm

Seth, I made a comment to your page I think more than an hour ago, but it hasn’t shown up on my computer. I logged in and saw it that way, so I know it’s there.

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 4:11 pm

Yikes, i thought an open public form would cool spence’s jets, but i guess not!

Comment by jtuffy — April 19, 2007 @ 4:20 pm

Yes Call of Booty 3, thats the way to go, and yes michael you owe me a rental, since i picked up the last one, its in your best interest! LOL. Pam is more of a long-standing cast member on “the office” karen is realatively new, plus Pam has that forbidden, nice-innocent that some crazy lonely boys like

Comment by jtuffy — April 19, 2007 @ 4:24 pm

I thought you might like to know that the voters have increased to 2,121 and Pam is still at 68%. This might mean Pam will whatever this is talking about.

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 6:30 pm

So, have you guys ever seen pam outside of the show. They do a good job of homelying her up. When I saw her in an interview I didn’t even recognize her.

And, Michael… do you really want to talk about the gaystrogen? I thought not. When are you gonna get some testicular implants to go along with those roid ridled muscles?

Jon, get on msn games and try their sudoku. It keeps track of your best times. I was introduced to the game over Christmas… my grandma wanted to see if I could do it and got mad at me when I finished in about 15 minutes, she is probably more obnoxious than spence. I really didn’t get that into it until I found the timed ones though. And now I’m driven to beat that old time!

I’m excited for some game’n action this weekend. It’s to bad you guys won’t give Ol’ WoW a try. You are obviously sick of all your other games… It’ld be a good time. And I have a server we can all talk over on the computers. ehhh… m’hmmm…

Spence are we really doin’ manual labor? I’m totaly ok with it, just need to know if I should bring some work clothes.

Comment by Seth — April 19, 2007 @ 6:37 pm

Seth, what about your roid riddled anal muscles?

Comment by Michael — April 19, 2007 @ 7:10 pm

I don’t get it, is this an inside joke between you and the I’talian stalion?

Comment by Seth — April 19, 2007 @ 7:56 pm

I just don’ see WoW happenen seth. It is too slow and riddled with wacko’s playing it. The manual labor won’t be anything too aggressive. We should go golfing though. Depending on the weather. What time will you guys get here? and I am sure you guys have riddled each others anal muscles plenty of times. I saw the italian stallion. I am sure he could do some major riddling.

Comment by John Wayne — April 19, 2007 @ 8:20 pm

wow, guess what the word of the day is? we should leave here around noon… who knows what time we will be there. Golf sounds great… been forever since I’ve played. Whenyou were talking about manual labor, you weren’t talkin about golf were you? lol

As for WoW… there are slow parts, but they are made up for by the fact that you are doing them with other people. And the player vs player games are way more intense and exciting than halo ever was. I’ll pack the computer down if your interested in checkin it out. Also, not sure if any of you ever played Knights of the old republic… the company that made it is coming out with a game that looks like an rgp/shooter, it looks cool. http://masseffect.bioware.com/gallery/#dl-movies check it out.

Comment by Seth — April 20, 2007 @ 12:29 am

Seth you can’t play it on my computer. why would you have to bring down your computer. I will try it out with you this weekend.

Comment by John Wayne — April 20, 2007 @ 12:58 am

I’m so confused by the last post. Was there suposed to be a questionmark in there somewhere? The reason I want to bring my computer is because when you start playing, only half the software is on the disk and the rest is content that they added since the creation of the game (they add new content every month or two… kinda cool) and therefore must be downloaded… it can take a while. I figured it would be faster and easier just to set my computer up.

Comment by Seth — April 20, 2007 @ 9:38 am

Okay, so is this the posting place. I have been a bit crazy the past few days trying to figure out where to go on all of this. Sorry spence for changing your profile. I meant to create one for myself.

So, I am back in Ithaca thanks to Jenny Cummings. You all are great!

I better get some sleep since I have tons to do in the morning though. Later guys!
