how do you feel about peterson’s prospects? can he handle the league?
Comment by The Scam — April 18, 2007 @ 4:03 pm
Of course peterson can handle the league, he is young and he body will develope more in tune with his hard running, he’ll be amazing, you watch, i just wish he was on the cowboys!
Comment by jtuffy — April 18, 2007 @ 4:08 pm
he’s had an injury every year that he’s played. is it worth the gamble? i think so. he has the speed and power like no one else. c’mon, he could put a team on the map if he had even a little help from his line. i just hope he doesn’t get stuck in cleveland or someplace crappy. hopefully denver will trade up and get him.
the real question is if john beck will go early or if he’ll be a sleeper?
Comment by The Scam — April 18, 2007 @ 5:10 pm
well peterson will do pretty well. but Beck will suck. I have never liked him. he can’t complete a long pass if his life depended on it. If things had played out a little differently he never would have been the starter. I don’t think he will go too early.
The most exciting thing that will happen this year is that a steroid free Barry Bonds will become the new homerun king. this is the single biggest accomplishment in all of professional sports. Consistency for 20 plus years. I am sure you guys will say its only because of steroids and blah blah blah, and that its just baseball. But steroids or not it is a big deal. He is the best hitter of all time. Which again is the biggest accomplishment in professional sports.
Wayne Out !!
Comment by spencer — April 18, 2007 @ 8:28 pm
Spence, you have never liked anyone on BYU, you are the worst BYU fan i’ve ever seen! Where’s the faith? Beck has been showcased on ESPN a number of times and i think he is projected to go in the 2nd round, He was a top 5 (maybe top 3) quarterback pick at the time, (don’t know the current status………let me check………don’t know) Anyways, Beck is way under-rated, i don’t know what team you were watching last year but 32 tds, only 8 picks, on a 6′2″ frame with a 4.7 in the 40. He improved every year on the team, which means he practices, listens, and hasn’t hit his peak (maybe) He has the size and arm the NFL likes, i just hope he doesn’t get stuck fighting for 2nd string somewhere, he is an impact player and may take a few years to blossom in the NFL but i think he has the possibility of being a great NFL QB and teams looking for that posistion would be crazy to pass on the guy. The only thing i would question is the mental toughness, he doesn’t really seem like he has that mean, greed; to drive him to be the best, which isn’t a bad thing i guess! Also, whats up with the new BYU qb Hall? Don’t know anything about him, is he good, ask your dad spence since he is a true fan and tunes in! LOL
Comment by jtuffy — April 19, 2007 @ 8:10 am
sounds like you have a man crush on Beck. You think he is well endowed too. He does complete the short pass very well. But again he can’t complete the long pass. His other weakness is that he can’t win the big games. He cracked under the pressure of a big game nearly every time. I could complete 5 yard passes when I have 10 seconds to sit in the pocket. Which brings up another point, I was never impressed with his scrambling ability.
Also the new Qb didn’t look that great in the spring scrimage, and got hurt and went out after a few sets. The 3rd stringer actually looked the best. I don’t know his name. I think they lost a couple of good prospects for qb while riding the Beck train. I am sure they will have somebody everybody will love, but he won’t actually be that great.
Comment by John Wayne — April 19, 2007 @ 10:11 am
okay, jw, look to the utah game to answer your questions and to show the progression of this kid. he’s patient in the pocket, scrambles intelligently, can throw the long ball (that pass across the field and across his body was a huge toss). they destroyed oregon in the bowl game and he runs a 4.7 as a qb. c’mon, that’s ridiculous. adrian peterson runs a 4.4 flat and he’s the #1 running back. if beck can stay healthy, i think he’ll out perform quinn and he’ll take the spot light in a couple of years.
even if he sits at second string to learn for a while, it might be good for him to ease into it - steve young style.
did you guys hear about the byu players that got arrested for burglary. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2830822
i can just imagine the two nerdy guys throwing the balloons.

eat it smeng-less. can’t scramble? can’t throw the long ball? were you even watching that game?
do we need to bring up how awesome the 49ers have been playing?
Comment by The Scam — April 20, 2007 @ 3:07 pm
I don’t know what game you guys were watching, but I was watching a QB with an enormous amount of time to do nothing (evidence of a really bad opposing team, or a really good line for him, or a combo of the two, but neither makes the QB any good whatsoever). Then, gee wiz, a guy ran after him, so he ran away and threw into a hole as big as the grand canyon (can’t miss it) to a guy that was - to say wide open is an understatement. The receiver had to run forward and drop to his knees at the line to catch the bad throw! That was the perfect example of the worthless QB getting all the credit of everyone else, and this is why football is a stupid sport all together.
Comment by Michael — April 20, 2007 @ 7:17 pm
Let me give an Amen for that michael. And I wouldn’t have thought you watched football michael. But yes he can’t throw the long ball. This alone will stop him from becoming very good in the NFL. Not to mention that he can’t win the big game. He one one game against utah with a hailmary essentially. And like michael said it wasn’t even a great pass. And the 49ers are probably doing as good as the “angry dolphins”
Elvis out!!!
Comment by Elvis — April 20, 2007 @ 9:08 pm
I don’t hink micahel has much room to talk about football since he lost his stones years ago and watches grown men in bikinis oiled up! LOL. And I never said it was that amazing of a play, but i love to see one of you monkeys do something like that! And you spence, you need to get with the program, how come you don’t like BYU? He’ll play in the NFL, well see what he does!
Comment by JennyTowns — April 21, 2007 @ 2:18 pm
This is jon, guess i’m logged in as jenny
Comment by JennyTowns — April 21, 2007 @ 2:18 pm
who cares. anyone that can make money playing football gets my credit. the dolphins would be decent if they would stop picking up dope-heads. and if they could keep a head coach.
Comment by The Scam — April 22, 2007 @ 8:06 pm
hey, i saw that they project john beck to go the dolphins pretty late. that’s just what my boys need to freshen up the place.
Comment by The Scam — April 23, 2007 @ 4:13 pm
yikes, beck with the dolphins! Do they have an entrenched qb, if beck gets to play early, then i’ll be a dolphins fan.
Comment by jtuffy — April 23, 2007 @ 4:17 pm
i think they just cut joey harrington who was splitting time as a starter last year. they need a serious over haul on offense. they can’t keep relying on their sweet defense.
Comment by The Scam — April 23, 2007 @ 4:56 pm
Cummings, I’ll bet you a plane trip that Adrian Peterson gets hurt before the year ends…
Comment by Blakemeezy — April 26, 2007 @ 12:51 am

what’s this SP business for seth?
Comment by The Scam — June 14, 2007 @ 3:00 pm
You’ll have to ask seth about the vegas trip if you want to know SP. LOL
Comment by jtuffy — June 14, 2007 @ 3:04 pm
Yes, and more importantly, you SHOULD ask seth about his esteemed title of SP! And I gave you the benefit of the doubt, tuffy. I gave you the chance to explain how you are The Stoic! Did you mean The Stork? You’ve taken this whole “I don’t workout b/c I want a neck” business too far!
Comment by DOMS 287 — June 14, 2007 @ 3:50 pm
No, Stoic is refering to someone that is unwavering, or affected very little. Look it up, i’m sure you have a dictionary amoung the thousands of dollars worth of school books you like to keep!
Comment by jtuffy — June 14, 2007 @ 3:59 pm
Puleez, I think the word is more specific as to what you are not wavering to, which I doubt is accurate for you … that is unless you need to confess some things about yourself …
Comment by DOMS 287 — June 14, 2007 @ 4:13 pm
I think you need a websters Doms!
Comment by jtuffy — June 14, 2007 @ 4:14 pm
Okay, okay, but I don’t think that exclamation mark and smiley face is very stoic!
Comment by DOMS 287 — June 14, 2007 @ 4:16 pm
stoic \STOH-ik\, noun:1. (Capitalized). A member of a school of philosophy founded by Zeno holding that one should be free from passion, unmoved by joy or grief, and should submit without complaint to unavoidable necessity.2. Hence, one who is apparently or professedly indifferent to or unaffected by pleasure or pain, joy or grief.
Mostly it means you are unmoved by emotions. The smiley face gives you away.
Comment by The Scam — June 15, 2007 @ 9:10 am
Puleez, i sit here and listen to you monkeys cry and it doesn’t affect me. LOL
Comment by jtuffy — June 15, 2007 @ 9:39 am
