Ok, so what is it going to be this week. Last week we had some good discussion about abortion; however that fizzled rather quickly. Lets try to tackle immigration this week. So let the sterotypes fly!!!
Ok, i don't really know about this topic, I think there are pros and cons. But what confuses the heck out of me is if it is illegal why do people defend it and not get in trouble. If i steal something, i'd get booked right away, but illegals can live her for years after they are found.
I do think we should build a massive massive wall around the border. That would be sweet! The Great Wall of the US.
You have to admit, there's an ethical problem here. If we make the illegals fearful of being shipped out, then they will deny their family and children of things they need (medical care, education, evacuation of cities targeted by Gustav...).
We can't get rid of them all and start anew, so how can we balance this issue?
And why is fear such a bad thing? What about the ethical issue of doing something illegal? Ethics/the moral good would say that you have to feed the poor. Ethics/the moral good would also say that you cannot steal from another. Why is one group forced to be moral while the other is not?
Because of the kids. The kids of the illegals is the biggest concern here. They aren't being immoral, they are innocent (at least for now). They must be looked out for.
Also, would anyone object to opening this up to outsiders or other people. Only a few of us blog and it would be nice to trash talk others. What about Tom seth? Or did Spence scare him aware for good?
Because isn't an answer doms. And don't go out there throwing the kiddy card for sympathy. Of course it is a horrible situation. But illegal is illegal. Why can't i go up to manchester and steal your crotch rocket? Would you be mad? But i need it. I have to get to work to support my kids....
You know, I'd love to keep trying to convey to you the importance of protecting the innocent children out there, but I have to focus on something else for a few hours. I'll get back in the action once seth, scam, tom, and Mr. Oh My Goodness (or whoever he is after reading this) chimes in.
The great quote. "illegal is illegal"! Do you really want to throw it down like that? In black and white? Because if you do, you cross a line there is no going back over.
Jon, do you speed? Why? Don't you know illegal is illegal? Your obvious hypocrisy disqualifies you from further participation in this moral and totaly legal conversation. (please note the heaviest of sarcastic tones here!)
It was pointed out to me today that mexicans always drive 5-10 miles under the speed limit. Maybe they are trying to make up for being illegal, who knows?
As for Tom... would you want to participate in a discusion where complete stranger(s) make totaly unfounded personal attacks against you for no apparent reason? But, who knows, I'll ask him.

Actually i hardly ever speed anymore. Especially since i have the motorcycle and there are a billzion people and stop signs here, so it makes it rather difficult. Plus is it really illegal to speed or is it an infraction. You know how the wording can really change these things.
So yes illegal is illegal, i would gladly take a speeding ticket every time you go over if every illegal alien gets the boot right now! How bout that gauntlent! Unfortunately this country is so jacked up that there are more speeding tickets given than illegals deported (i'm guessing)
Oh my nellie, this is getting better and better... I thought tuffy said speeding wasn't illegal, but an infarction. Too funny. I thought tuffy had fallen off the deep end.
Anyway, what's with this whole, I can't speed b/c there are too many people and stop signs, crap. This can't be the same tuffy that used to give fair warning to innocent passersby that might be coming to a fourway stop by flashing his lights before blowing right through on his way to "the jump" in the beater. Man, we are getting old! Tuffy, you definitely need to get over here with your new ride while the weather is still good so I can remind you of your roots!
Well said Leigh ann, I agree. However, i do understand that it would be impossible to catch every illegal. It would be way to expensive to track down everyone of them. But something can be done. It seems like they just turn a blind eye. I have no problem with people that want to come here. But do so legally and pay your taxes!

How about we all just hold hands and work together. Then we could call it the Great Wall of Us.
