Since we are the only ones on this blog anymore, we can just say whatever i guess. So did you hear about Proposition 8 passing in California? What are your thoughts on this? There was a big Gay rally yesterday at the Temple in L.A. since gays are taking out their frustrations on the church since the Mormons played such a big role (financially speaking). Here is a photo of a protester getting knocked out by some dude in a truck since the protester ripped his Yes on Prop 8 sign.

Since we are the only ones blogging, you have to comment on your own new post so I know that it was posted. I didn't know this was here since it doesn't send emails with new posts. Thanks to Leigh Ann's latest craze, I saw this one.
And by the way, Leigh Ann, you have to go back and read our posts on the election. When you do, I think you'll find yourself hard-pressed to read any mention of us claiming that blacks were the ones voting for obama, and not whites. All we said was that osama was elected because he is black. That means whites voted for him because he's black. Have you noticed the outright dicklessness of the white media since the election? It is insane how much they are talking up blacks in general and every single black person they see. They have gone HUGE lengths to make black people feel that we think they are just the best. Come on! The more you talk about it, and the harder you try, the more transparent you are.
So about this prop 8 thing. I said it before, I'll say it again, the gays will win this battle sooner or later. We should just let them have it now and reduce the crap we have to go through. They are never going to stop pushing everything in our faces until we stop making such a big deal about it. When they can be gay and not be such a spectacle for it, then that will be the day they quit going to such extremes.
Why do the gays have to win, they probably make up less than 5% of the population. Why is it that the minority groups make the loudest stink and people cater to their needs. It is about principle Doms, they are trying to normalize being gay. I have no quams whatsover if a person wants to do whatever in their own personal life, but don't try to normalize it.
It's not even about normalizing being gay. Who cares. Teach your family and anyone who respects your opinion enough to listen correct principles and let them govern them selves. The problem with prop8 was through the wording of the gay marriage laws it opened the door to force changes to other religions. There were already cases being drawn up that claimed religious organizations (not just LDS organizations) were descriminating against gay couples in regards to marriage and addoption. In Mass there have already been adoption agencies that were forced to shut down because they refused to offer their services to married gay couples. And under the california law (before it was overturned) the LDS church could be charged with discrimination for not allowing gay couples to be married in the temple.
So, the problem is that gay marriage is causing the state to interfere with religion. The first amendment states,
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances
Let the gays do what ever the hell they want. But it can't take away our first amendment rights in the process.
did lea ann get steamed and erase her posts? What the heck did she say anyway?
Amen brother stephenson, you are right on, that was part of the normalization that i was talking about. I wonder what will really happen when they do get it passed. Do you think that religions will have to finally band together to accomplish their goals? The silent majority is always getting screwed.
And yes, i think leighann got steamed, i didn't think you could erase comments though unless you were an administrator.
Ladies, calm down. The law could never force religious institutions to marry anyone that they don't want to. If that were the case, then the LDS church would already be in violation. They currently practice discrimination when it comes to allowing marriage in the temple. And you can forget about the churches banning together. Eventually most churches will support gays, as some already have begun.
Marriage is one thing, but adoption is another. This is where things get really complicated in my book. Unfortunately, this is inevitable too. Times are a changing and religion will not retain its integrity as we know it. It won't be long before our kids will be wanting to go over to joe's or kathryn's and one of their dads or moms will be coming to pick them up.
they don't practice discrimination as it is defined by the law... that is, against a minority group.
so, did you guys hack off everyone else so they decided to leave the blog?
jeez, i get busy for a couple of days at work and i miss out on a world of excitement with you guys. i don't know what i was thinking.
i just think it is dumb that the no on 8 people are blaming churches. it was the voters - not the churches that made the difference. besides, the "no on 8" folks had twice the money raised and have no one to blame but themselves. well, that and the fact that a lot of people don't agree with their position.
Agreed Doms, the innocence of a child is being lost. Slaughter the innocent and protect the guilty is our motto now. I don't even understand how it is conceivable that these people are given kids to be raised.
Scam - what makes me sick is that the LDS church is being targeted and nothing is being done about it. It like people think "well its just those crazy mormons, its ok to pursecute them" If they were protesting jews or blacks that voted for Prop 8, there would be mayham!
Minority or not, they are discriminating, and the LDS church of all organizations could certainly be charged of discrimination against minorities. Like it or not, the LDS church already has a bad reputation (for good reason) over discrimination against blacks. If I were black and unworthy and wanted to get married in the temple, the church would deny me and I could claim discrimination using the LDS history in my favor. Yet this doesn't happen. I'm telling you, the church is immune to these laws.
To add another topic (off topic) to our discussion, and not to stop the current debate, I want to know your thoughts on american car companies. For me it's ford, born and bred loyalty. But the big american car companies are all about to go out of business unless the government dishes out big bucks. My first inclination is to support this move and stay loyal to american car companies in general. On the other hand, I'm thinking that the quality of our cars is going down the drain because they can't afford the engineering it takes to stay at the top. Further, I'm thinking everything about our american cars has to be suffering, which means we as consumers suffer. We will have to pay for more repairs of our crappy cars, we'll probably have to pay more for the repairs due to the company's struggles, and we'll probably have less support in all its variances from the companies themselves. I'm thinking a wiser move would be to buy foreign cars if you're in the market. I'm not in the market, but I hope to be soon for Brooke. Her piece of junk (buick) is barely holding up these days, and it's costly to repair that thing.
What do you think? Does this reasoning hold water?
There is a difference between discrimination and not qualified. If i couldn't get into Harvard, i couldn't claim discrimination. People are to quick to claim the martyr. Some times its just a matter of not meeting the qualifications. I was thinking about making a book today about how you can't be whatever you want. To many kids today are told they can me/do whatever you want. That just insn't true. The PC pat your bum world is creating impossible expectations.
Buy American and buy often. Don't listen to the media BS about how foreign cars are better, maybe 10 years ago, but now they are all manufactured by the same processes. Like a toyota matrix is the exact same thing as a saturn vibe, they just switch the emblems. Perception drives sells though.
That's my point, Queefis. If you're gay, you're not qualified. No problem. Laws can't touch that. They can go get married at the baptist church (if not now, soon).
I didn't get the idea to buy foreign cars from the media. I was just concerned about all of our car companies going out of bizzat. You don't the quality of the cars and the company's service is going to affect us negatively? I don't think there's anyway around that.
I just learned that the head honcho of General Motors brought in $16 million $$$ (into his personal bank account that is) while GM LOST $23 million! Absolutely amazing. I learned this through an interview with this guy where they confronted him about this and he did not protest, he just started talking like a politician. They also asked him how he could still be running the show when the company has fallen 75% over the last 8 years that he's been in charge. Good question.
